Public
facilities face special fiscal and physical planning limitations. The
ability to understand the funding options, statutory requirements and
strategic facilities placement helps maximize public tax dollars. Many
times master planning for infrastructure involves working through a
politically heated process. Wikstrom’s sound analysis and experience
with public outreach can help gain consensus.
Wikstrom
was hired to determine the feasibility of relocating the main Utah
State Prison. Wikstrom has master planned school
districts ranging
in enrollment of 1,000 to 76,000 and those alternatively facing
rapid growth requiring bonding for new facilities and those dealing
with
school closures. We have addressed the difficult issues related
to splitting
school districts. Wikstrom has been retained by Universities to
plan research parks and innovative transit-oriented joint development
sites. We have also master planned multiple-campus community
colleges.
Wikstrom has planned statewide office needs for most state functions
in Utah and we have evaluated the most cost effective means of financing
state-owned office buildings. Additionally, we created the basis
for equitably pricing leases for courts facilities in rural locations.
